Jaafari Endowments chairman lauds leadership's support

Manama, May 1 (BNA): The Chairman of the Jaafari Endowments (Waqf) Borad of Directors, Sheikh Mohsen Al Asfoor, has announced a package of projects ahead of the 90th anniversary of the Jaafari Endowments Directorate (1928-2016), which will coincide with the kingdom's celebrations of the next National Day.
Al Asfoor asserted that the directorate will implement, throughout this year, many projects, events and programmes aiming to develop the role of houses of worship, including mosques, community centres and Hussainias.
They also aim to strengthen the principles of transparency, consolidate social responsibility and deepen the Jaafari Endowments' role and contributions to achieving sustainable economic and social development, being among the first administrative institutions in the modern state that crowned its march during the era of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, the mastermind of the modern Reform Era in the kingdom.
Sheikh Mohsen Al-Asfoor extended, on behalf of the directorate's board members, staff and affiliates, deepest thanks, appreciation and gratitude to HM King Hamad, His Royal Highness Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, for their unwavering support to the Jaafari Endowments Directorate so as to enable it to play its expected leading role in serving the kingdom, especially in the coming period.
He described the directorate's 90th anniversary as a cherished national occasion reflecting the long history of the houses of worship care, endowments and charitable work in the kingdom, explaining that the Jaafari Endowments Directorate was established during the era of the late Shaikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in 1927 and was then taken care of by his sons and grandchildren. Today, it enjoys the care and support of HM King Hamad, HRH Premier and HRH Crown Prince.
Thanks to the support of the leadership, the directorate has achieved remarkable progress in all fields related to protecting houses of worship, as well as charity, endowments and social work, and proud of that, he said.
The 90th anniversary celebrations will focus on highlighting the directorate's achievements throughout its long history, informing the Bahraini society about the crucial services it services as well as its historical milestones.
The programme features mainly a photo gallery and a documentary film on the directorate's history, achievements and the support allocated to it by Bahraini rulers ever since it was established. Other events will be announced later.
