Government supports start-ups
BANGKOK, May 7 (TNA) -- Dismissing reports issued by academics and many others, a spokesman of the Prime Minister’s Office said the Thai government encourages new generation of businessmen to start-up their own firms by using innovative technology.
The spokesman said concerns over wasteful of money and time spent by the government over start-up firms that they would be just like encouragement given by previous governments to operators of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and One Tambon One Product should not exist.
This government always think in terms of survival of business operators, especially for them to employ innovative technology for SME business, he said.
The spokesman said “new SME warriors are those who are able to increase value of their merchandises and could further develop products.”
He said the government has not neglected the more than two million SME operators and it is trying to categorised the size, capital and knowledge of the players.
“SMEs are considered of generating income and employment. More than 99.5 per cent are small-sized while the rest are medium-sized,” said the spokesman, adding that they are potent to enlarge the country’s gross domestic product and this is the reason why the government wants to enlarge them. (TNA)
