Three Bahraini writers honoured

Manama, May 7 (BNA): Three pioneering Bahraini writers have been honoured in recognition of their intellectual and literary contributions. Dr. Alawi Al-Hashemi, historian Khalil Al-Merrikhi and poet Ali Al-Sharqawi were honoured marking the World Book Day. Isa Cultural Centre Board of Trustees’ Deputy Chairman and Executive Director Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa honoured the three laureates, along with winners of children and youth cultural competitions. The Ministry of Information Affairs seized the occasion to express readiness to print the honourees’ books in acknowledgement of their pioneering roles. Bahrain TV director, Acting Mass Media Director at the Information Affairs Authority (IAA) Youssef Mohammed Youssef announced the move which was initiated by Minister of Information Affairs Ali bin Mohammed Al-Rumaihi. "The IAA is ready to print, reprint or issue one book for each of the three honorees", said Mr. Youssef as he attended the ceremony. Dr. Shaikh Khalid bin Khalifa Al-Khalifa commended the three honorees for their prolific works which he said, will continue to inspire the coming generations.
