Manama, May 9 (BNA): The Council of Representatives strongly condemned the genocidal crimes perpetrated against the innocent civilians, including women and children in Syria. In a statement today, it voiced deep concerns over the alarming deterioration of the security situation in Aleppo and neighbouring areas, deploring the tragic plight of the Syrian people due to spiraling violence and war atrocities. The statement noted the international reports which voiced deep concerns over the flagrant transgression of the Syrian people's basic right to life in peace. The council urged all countries to intervene promptly and halt stark violations, calling upon international and regional watchdogs and humanitarian organisations to support the Syrian people, particularly in Aleppo and neighouring areas. It also called upon Arab, Islamic and friendly countries to step up international efforts to put an end to violations and hold the perpetrators accountable.
