Sixteen well-known Thai persons not listed in Panama Papers

BANGKOK, May 11 (TNA) - The Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO) reports that documents leaked from a Panamanian law firm, Mossack Fonseca, include no names of 16 well-known Thai persons as earlier claimed online. Acting AMLO Secretary-General Police Colonel Seehanat Prayoonrat quoted the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) as confirming on Wednesday that the names of the 16 Thai persons do not exist in the documents, called Panama Papers. Police Colonel Seehanat said that the consortium has, however, found 637 names related to Thailand, consisting of 51 companies, 203 Thai individuals and 383 foreigners. According to the AMLO chief, most of the 637 names are business persons and his office is checking whether they have involved in any money-laundering. (TNA)
