PRESIDENT TO RECEIVE DUTCH FOREIGN MINISTER
Jakarta, Jan. 14 (ANTARA) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono was scheduled to receive Dutch Foreign Affairs Minister Maxim Verhagen at the Presidential Office here on Wednesday.
Verhagen is on a visit to Indonesia from January 13 to 17, 2009, to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
The Dutch minister held a meeting with his Indonesian counterpart Nur Hassan Wirajuda to discuss various issues of bilateral, regional and global interest including on ASEAN-European Union (EU) relations, and latest developments in the Middle East.
The two foreign ministers were on Wednesday to sign documents in preparation of the conclusion of a Strategic Partnership Agreement by the two governments.
The signing of the documents by Wirajuda and Verhagen would constitute the final phase of preparations for the signing of the Strategic Partnership Agreement by President Yudhoyono and the Dutch prime minister.
The Dutch foreign minister would also meet Indonesian Law and Human Rights Minister Andi Matalatta and visit Yogyakarta on Thursday (Jan. 15).
In Yogyakarta, he would hold a meeting with Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X and visit state elementary schools in Kalikebo, Klaten, which were renovated by the foreign ministry. The schools were damaged by a powerful earthquake that hit Yogyakarta and Central Java in May 2006.
