Deputy King meets Commander of the US Central Command and highlights importance of combatting all forms of extremism

Manama, May 12 (BNA): Deputy King, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa today met the Commander of the United States Central Command (CENTCOM), General Joseph Votel, at Riffa Palace. During the meeting, His Royal Highness highlighted the longstanding ties between Bahrain and the United States and noted the strong levels of cooperation and coordination across a range of areas, including military and defence cooperation. In this regard, His Royal Highness congratulated General Votel on his appointment as Commander of CENTCOM and wished him every success in the role. His Royal Highness and General Votel then reviewed key regional and international issues and highlighted the importance of combatting all forms of terrorism and extremism in order to secure lasting stability and security in the region. His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman Al Khalifa, son of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, also attended the meeting.
