FLOODS INUNDATE HUNDREDS OF HOUSES IN PANDEGLANG
Pandeglang, Banten Province, Jan. 14 (ANTARA) - Floods inundated hundreds of houses in Angsana and Cikeusik sub districts, Pandeglang District, Banten Province, following incessant downpours over the past two days.
The floods forced 505 families to flee to safer areas, Yamin of the Pandeglang local administration office, said here on Wednesday.
One bridge was destroyed and rice huller machines belonging to local farmers were swept away by the floodwaters reaching a height of between 30 cm and 50 cm.
"The disaster does not claim any live, but it inflicts material losses worth hundreds of millions of rupiahs," he said.
In Cikeusik sub district, some 385 houses were flooded, he said.
Meanwhile, Angsana Sub District Head Dani said some 120 families evacuated themselves to higher ground due to the flood.
