PLN PROJECTING RP89 TRILLION INCOME IN 2009
Jakarta, Jan 14 (ANTARA) - State-owned electricity company PLN has set itself an income target of Rp89 trillion for 2009, or an increase of about 11.25 percent from its estimated income of Rp80 trillion for 2008, its chief said.
"The revenues are expected to increase as a result of the increase in the number of PLN customers and efficiency in using fuel oils," PLN president director Fachmi Mochter said here on Wednesday.
Mochtar said that PLN was expected to be able to carry out the efficiency in the use of fuel oil thanks to its success to diversify its energy from oil to gas.
Thus, the corporate business profit is projected to reach Rp10.1 trillion, which increases from the corporate profit estimate of Rp3.2 trillion in 2008.
The increase in the profit will be made thanks to among others the increase in the number of customers in line with the rise of its electricity production capacity.
However, the income projection of Rp89 trillion has not yet taken into account the impact of the lowering of electricity basic tariff in the middle of this month, he said.
"PLN predicts that the lowering of the basic power tariff would reduce PLN's income by about Rp1.38 trillion," Fachmi Mochtar said.
He said that in order to make the performance of the company's financial balance to remain good, PLN would try to propose for a compensation through a subsidy mechanism.
"We will ask for a subsidy compensation amounting to Rp1.4 trillion from the 2009 revised state budget," he said.
In the meantime, PLN Finance Director Setio Anggoro Dewo said last week that PLN had plans to issue another bonds following favorable market responses to its bonds issued earlier.
"We see the market responses are still quite good," he said.
He said the good market responses were reflected by proceeds from the issuance of the last bonds which rose 46.67 percent to Rp2.2 trillion from Rp1.5 trillion previously.***2***
