National Independence Is Lifeline in National Reunification Movement: Rodong Sinmun

Pyongyang, May 18 (KCNA) -- National independence is a key to settling the national issues and serves as the lifeline in the movement for national reunification, Rodong Sinmun Wednesday says in an article. The article goes on: National reunification is the cause to connect the severed blood vessel of the nation and achieve its sovereignty in a nationwide scale. It is foolish to think about settling the issue of national reunification in reliance on outside forces, as it is a matter of regaining national sovereignty usurped by outsiders. Outside forces do not want to see a reunified powerful country on the Korean peninsula. Prompted by their interests for aggression, they intend to render the situation constantly tense, being displeased with de-escalation of tension on the Korean peninsula and improvement of inter-Korean relations. It is necessary to preserve the principle of independence for settling the national issue, the reunification issue of the country as the situation around the Korean peninsula gets more complicated and acute. All Koreans in the north and the south and abroad should wage a dynamic struggle to independently achieve national reunification under the unfurled banner of national independence whose validity and vitality were fully proven through history and reality. -0-
