Bahrain, UK sign academic accord

Manama, May 21 (BNA): The second phase of the higher education professional development programme was given the go-ahead. Bahrain Higher Education Council signed an executive programme with the British Higher Education Academy, signaling the beginning of stage II. Education Minister Dr. Majid bin Ali Al-Nuaimi sealed the deal with British Higher Education Academy Chief Executive officer Dr. Mark Jones. The first phase of the agreement was signed in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier during his visit then to the United Kingdom. Dr. Al-Nuaimi said that the agreement targets seventy university teachers to hone their skills and train them on developing academic programmes to cater to the needs of the labour market and build their research credentials.
