NIHR committee holds meeting

Manama, May 22 (BNA): The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) Complaints, Monitoring and Follow-up Committee convened for its 13th regular meeting. Maria Khoury chaired the session which was attended also by members Dr. Hameed Ahmed Hussain and Dr. Mona Mohammed Hejris. The panel reviewed complaints and demands for assistance which were sent to the watchdog. The committee received 52 complaints and 75 demands for assistance and legal advisories since January 2016. It discussed cooperation with the Civil and Political Rights Committee and the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Committee. The committee commended competent authorities for their constructive cooperation and keenness on joint work to achieve desired goals in addressing complaints and demands for assistance and legal advisories
