Bahrain participates in GCC Health Promotion Committee meeting

Manama, May 23 (BNA): Health Promotion Department Director Dr. Abeer Al-Ghawi represented Bahrain in the 12th GCC Health Promotion Committee meeting recently held in Kuwait. The meeting discussed topics related to the development of infrastructure and strategies for health promotion in the GCC countries. Dr. Al-Ghawi said that the meeting reviewed the outcomes and recommendations of a report on the Gulf Week for Health Promotion titled (Prevention of diabetes complications.) She noted the need for the exchange of educational and health media materials and information for the integration in the area of health promotion. She added that the meeting stressed the importance of conducting surveys and studies to benefit from in tracking various health behaviors and developing future health policies. The meeting also stressed on bolstering cooperation in fields of training and capacity building, as well as boosting coordination with WHO to hold workshops on planning and evaluating health awareness campaigns for healthy life patterns to be held in Kuwait in next December.
