MANOKWARI AGAIN ROCKED BY QUAKE
Bengkulu, Jan 14 (ANTARA) - The Manokwari district in West Papuan Province was again rocked by a tectonic quake measuring 5.4 on the Richter Scale on Wednesday evening at 20:33:07 West Indonesia Standard Time (WIB).
The Meteorology and Geophysics Station (BMG) here disclosed on Wednesday that the epicenter of the quake was located 138 km Southwest of Manokwari in a depth of 30 km in the sea.
The quake was located 0.23 degrees Southern Lattitude and 132.99 degrees Eastern Longitude.
Earlier, at 14:19:05 WIB, a quake with a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter scale also jolted the district 1.07 degrees Southern Latitude and 133.11 degrees Eastern Longitude with its epicenter located 109 Southwest of Manokwari in a depth of 20 km in the sea.
On January 4, 2009, Manokwari was rattled by a 7.6 magnitude quake which killed four residents and damaged 1,769 buildings and houses.
The temblor also caused serious injuries on 31 residents, and slight ones on 476 others.
