BPK TO APPLY REMOTE SENSING TECHNOLOGY FOR INVESTIGATIION PURPOSES
Jakarta, Jan 14 (ANTARA) - State Supreme Audit Board (BPK) will apply remote sensing technology more in their investigations in the future.
The commitment is made in conjunction with the signing of a joint agreement between BPK and the National Aeronautics and Space Institution (LAPAN) at the BPK building here on Wednesday. The agreement was signed by secretary general of BPK, Dharma Bhakti, and first secretary of LAPAN Bambang Koesoemanto.
"BPK is interested in remote licensing technology for investigation purposes. In fact, in December 2008, BPK received an award from the Indonesian Remote Licensing Commmunity (MAPIN) for State Institutions with Geographic Information System (GIS) of remote sensing category," Dharma Bhakti said.
Moreover, the BPK chairman said, the potential to use remote sensing in environtmentally perspective investigation was quite high. The technology had been implemented in several sectors namely forestry, mining, agriculture, maritime, development, and disaster mitigation sectors.
