Thailand hosts G-77 SEP in Business forum
BANGKOK, June 1 (TNA) - Thailand hosts SEP in Business:A G-77 Forum on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bangkok during June 1-2, aimed to share with other developing economies the Thai Kingdom's application of the Sufficiency Economy Philosophy (SEP) to national development over the past four decades.
Thai Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha presided over the opening session of the two-day SEP in Business:A G-77 Forum on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on Wednesday, in which about 200 delegates participate, including ambassadors and permanent representatives of the Group of 77 developing economies in New York, diplomatic personnel of G-77 and international organisations in Bangkok and senior officials concerned.
On the occasion, the Thai prime minister urged all G-77 member countries to join forces in creating a strong connectivity among the world's developing economies, saying that Thailand is ready to support every economy to achieve their sustainable development through SEP, which was initiated by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej.
Prime Minister General Prayut also acknowledged it is a great honour that Thailand is trusted to be the chair this year of the G-77 group.
The ongoing SEP in Business:A G-77 Forum on the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is the second roundtable conference on SEP, after Thailand, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hosted the first one, entitled “G-77 Bangkok Roundtable on Sufficiency Economy:An Approach to Implementing the Sustainable Development Goals” in Bangkok during February 28-29, 2016.
This week's forum is focused on creating dialogues and understanding on the private sector's roles in supporting the realisation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). (TNA)
