BANGKOK, June 4 (TNA) -- Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said the Thai government has presented a donation of 2.5 million baht as an aid for flood and landslide victims of Sri Lanka.
MFA spokesperson Sek Wannamethee said the heavy downpours in many areas in Sri Lanka have caused sudden flooding and landslides in the country's capital of Colombo, as well as areas in the western region which killed and caused many to go missing.
He noted that the Sri Lankan government is still hurriedly continuing rescue missions and is expected the number of the injured and casualties to rise even more, as 105 have already been found dead, and 650,000 Sri Lankans have already been affected by the recent flood, according to the latest data on May 30.
The spokesman said in such unfortunate circumstance, the MFA has decided to present a money donation of 2.5 million baht to the Sri Lankan government to provide aid to the Sri Lankan people affected by the natural disaster. (TNA)
