School milk found sale in Cambodia

BANGKOK, June 45 (TNA) -- Agriculture and Cooperatives Minister Gen Chatchai Sarikulya has ordered for an urgent investigation on milk for school children found sale at a department store in Cambodia’s Siem Reap province. Gen Chatchai assigned Teerapat Prayunsit, permanent secretary for Agriculture and Cooperatives, in a capacity as chairman of cow milk and milk products committee, to investigate following press reports that a tourist had lodged a complaint after he found cartons of UHT school milk produced in Thailand and distributed free of charge for school children have been put on shelves for sale at the Asia Market department store in Siem Reap. The UHT milk with a label ‘Not for Sale’ was produced by Wang Nam Yen Dairy Cooperative in Sa Kaeo province bordering Cambodia. Under the contract signed with Wang Nam Yen Dairy Cooperative, the manufacturer of milk for school children and the transporter must supply milk for the school compound and inside Thailand only. Mr Teerapat then ordered his deputy Sakchai Sriboonsue to find out and report the incident within five days. (TNA)
