Bahrain remains oasis of democracy, tolerance, peaceful co-existence

London, June 16 (BNA): Information Affairs Minister Ali bin Mohammed Al Rumaihi said the Kingdom of Bahrain will continue to apply justice and enforce the rule of law without procrastination in tackling acts of violence, terrorism and externally-backed extremist groups that instigate sectarian political agenda, to safeguard the kingdom's security and stability, the safety of citizens, and to preserve the Kingdom's accomplished development and reforms in the state of the institutions and the law. Speaking to the London-based Al Sharq Al Awsat newspaper, Al Rumaihi said thanks to the cohesiveness and solid unity of its people, Bahrain will remain invincible to terrorists, saboteurs and foreign interferences. We will not allow sectarian and racist conspiracies to target our national independence, hinder our democratic and economic development, or threaten the region's security and stability. He stressed that Bahrain will not allow any plot against the Arabian Gulf and will remain the invincible fort for Arabian Gulf security. The Kingdom has always been and will remain the oasis of tolerance, democracy, tolerance and peaceful co-existence, he stressed. We will firmly tackle any foreign-affiliated terrorist organisations or groups that seek to undermine the kingdom's strategic position or the atmospheres of democratic openness to undermine our national security and stability or to ignite the flames of sectarian strife or to terrify unwary people through criminal terrorist attacks that contradict all humanitarian values and religious teachings. To consolidate the rule of law and ensure a fair trial for the outlaws is the popular demand that emanates from our national values and in compliance with the Constitution and international conventions that ban foreign-backed political organisations which do not seek the welfare nor the progress or safety of our people and which try to spread chaos, terrorism, sectarian strife and hatred among the sons of the unified nation and that seek to exploit places of worship, foreign media or electronic websites in serving their plots, he said. Bahrain will continue to consolidate its political reforms and the rule of law, support civil society organisations to freely carry out their activities whilst respecting the Constitution, the rule of law and the international convention of civil and political rights, and which stand on non-sectarian national foundations and which carry out their activities by peaceful means, shunning all forms of violence to preserve Bahrain's independence, security and national unity, and which do not have any structural or financial affiliation to any foreign entities whatsoever and which protect our national security, public safety, general order and which respect the rights and freedoms of other people.
