Cambodian FM to visit Thailand
BANGKOK, June 18 (TNA) -- Prak Sokhonn, newly appointed Cambodia’s Senior Minister and also minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, will pay a two-day official visit to Thailand, starting Sunday, aimed at strengthening relations between the two neighbouring countrues, said a Thai Foreign Ministry spokesman.
Mr Sek Wannamethee, Director General of the Department of Information and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand said Mr Prak Sokhonn will pay the introductory visit at the invitation of his Thai counterpart Don Pramudwinai.
On Monday, he will pay a courtesy call on Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha at the Government House and then hold talks with Mr Don at the Foreign Affairs Ministry on bilateral relations and on pending projects such as an opening of a new permanent border crossing point, ways to promote trade and investment, labour, agriculture, public health and education, the spokesman said.
He is expected to pursue an achievement of the second Thailand-Cambodia Joint Cabinet Retreat which was held in Bangkok last December 18 – 19 and to map out programmes of discussions for the 10th Thailand-Cambodia Joint Commission to be held in Bangkok and an unofficial third Thailand-Cambodia Joint Cabinet Retreat scheduled to be held in Cambodia, Mr Sek added.
According to a press release issued by Cambodia’s Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mr Prak Sokhonn will pay his introductory visits to Laos from June 16 – 18 before visiting Bangkok. He is scheduled to visit Vietnam from June 21 to 23. (TNA)
