Siam Tulip Festival 2016 launched

CHAIYAPHUM, June 18 (TNA) -- Chusak Trisarn, governor of Chaiyaphum has presided over the official opening ceremony of the Siam Tulip Festival 2016 earlier today at the Pa Hin Ngam National Park, located in the Ban Rai subdistrict of Thepsatit district. The governor said the objective of the annual festival is to attract tourists who are fond of natural environment and scenery, where visitors would be able to enjoy the beauty of the sea of fog and the blossoming of the Siam Tulips or Dok Krachiao, a tropically native flower with dramatic pink and purple blooms. The governor, however, admitted that the slow to approach rainy season has caused the flowers to bloom slower that usual, prompting the number of the blossomed flowers to be a bit scarce at the moment. Nonetheless, he said, all of the Siam Tulips planted at the national park are expected to be in full bloom by the end of June, in which the provincial office has also extended the the Dok Krachiao Blooming Festival to last until September to encourage visitors to come and witness the beauty of the flower.
