Cabinet Affairs Minister chairs meeting

Manama, June 20 (BNA): The National Informatics Committee today convened for its third meeting at the court of His Royal Highness The Prime Minister. Chaired by Cabinet Affairs Minister Mohammed bin Ibrahim Al-Mutawa, the session was attended by representatives of ministries and relevant government departments. The panel discussed in particular a follow-up of the post-2015 Development Agenda and ways of linking the UN blueprint with the Government’s Action Plan (GAP), in addition to other issues featuring on the meeting agenda. The minister stressed the importance of setting up a comprehensive database at the Central Informatics Organisation (CIO) so as to provide accurate and updated information and data to be at the disposal of decision-makers and serve the requirements of of sustainable development. Al-Mutawa underscored the crucial role of information, data and statistics as the cornerstone to push development efforts forward and measure performance levels. Addressing the session, he underlined ongoing work to update statistics and data at ministries and government departments to be available for decision-makers and researchers in Bahrain and abroad.
