UNIDENTIFIED MEN ATTACK THREE CARS WITH GRENADE IN ACEH
Banda Aceh, Jan 16 (ANTARA) - A group of unidentified men lobbed a grenade at three stationary cars in front of a hotel in the Peunayong area in Banda Aceh at 6 on Friday morning, police said.
One of the three cars was scorched but there was no fatality in the incident, Banda Aceh police spokesman Senior Commissioner Samsul Bahri said.
Police had started an investigation to solve the case.
"We still don't know the type of the grenade used in the attack but we are trying to find out. A forensic team from North Sumatra Police is on the way to Banda Aceh to take part in the investigation," Bahri said.
"We hope all parties in Aceh will support the police in ensuring security and a conducive situation in the run up to the legislative elections this year," Bahri said.
Several days ago, a grenade also exploded at the office of the Aceh Party (PA) on Jalan SA Mahmudyah in Banda Aceh but it did little damage and nobody was hurt.
