Presidential office publishes book of Lee's statements
SEOUL, Jan. 16 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's presidential office on Friday released a
new book containing major remarks by President Lee Myung-bak during his first
year in office.
The book, titled "Turning Crisis into Chance," will only be available to
government officials and members of the country's legislative and judicial
branches, the presidential office Cheong Wa Dae said.
"The book aims to allow government officials to share ideas and governing beliefs
of the president so they can work more efficiently while trying to set up
policies and execute them," the office said in a press release.
"This also means the government must commit itself to pledging all-out effort to
overcome the economic crisis as it is already running on an emergency economy
mode to fight the unprecedented crisis," it added.
Only 5,000 copies of the book will be printed and distributed free of charge, it
said.
The book consists of seven chapters, with the first chapter containing the
president's most recent remarks calling for efforts to overturn the economic
slump.
