Shipyard in Ayutthaya temporary closed after explosion killed 4 workers
AYUTTHAYA, July 3 (TNA) -- The Ayutthaya Provincial Industry Office has ordered that the local shipyard be temporary closed off for 30 days, after an explosion there had killed four workers on Friday, while forensic police would sweep the scene again to determine the real cause of the tragic incident.
Deputy Governor of Ayutthaya, Rewat Prasong said the explosion took place on Friday during the assembling of a large passenger ship within the Chartchai Chonlatarn Rungsawat shipyard, located in the province's Bang Sai district, causing four workers to be killed.
The Ayutthaya Provincial Industry Office, meanwhile, said the said shipyard is registered as a factory, prompting the deputy governor to use legal regulations to close off the shipyard for a period of 30 days, starting July 1, in order for the police to inspect the scene.
The deputy governor said he would also use this temporary closure to ask the business owner to improve to safety measures at the factory to ensure the highest safety to people and properties around the shipyard.
The families of the 4 dead workers, which include three Thai nationals and one Cambodian, would now be compensated in accordance to the laws.
In the mean time, the forensic police would be arriving at the scene today to find out the real cause of the explosion. (TNA)
