Manama, July 2 (BNA): The National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR) has denounced the incident which occurred in East Eker and led to the death of a Bahraini woman and wounding of three children when their car was hit by shrapnel as a result of the blast. In a statement issued today, the NIHR denounced the "heinous and illegal act which targeted the life of a Bahraini citizen", warning that such an incident may subvert security and stability, terrorise the citizens and pose a threat to civic peace. It also affirmed that the attack had negative impacts on basic human rights and freedoms, the statement added. The NIHR also urged all the relevant sides in the society to be vigilant, ignore calls for violence, adhere to peaceful action, defend demands through the available legal means, be committed to national unity, reject all forms of violence in thought and deeds, exercise self-restraint and promote the values of peaceful co-existence among all. The NIHR extended sincere condolences and consolation to the family of the deceased, praying to Allah Almighty to bless her relatives with patience and fortitude, and the wounded with speedy recovery.
