Preparations stepped up for Eid flux of visitors

Manama, July2 (BNA): Preparations are in full swing to ensure the smooth flow of passengers on King Fahd Causeway during the Eid Al-Fitr holidays.
Customs President Shaikh Ahmed bin Hamad Al Khalifa held a coordination meeting with King Fahd Causeway Organisation director-general Abdulrahman bin Saad Al Yahya and discussed the expected flux of visitors.
Bahrain Customs drew-up a contingency plan to deal with flow of visitors during the Eid break which coincides with Summer vacations. The customs authorities expect 17,000 vehicles to cross the strategy artery binding Bahrain and Saudi Arabia.
An additional shift will work for two periods to back the current regular to ease the pressure and ensure the smooth flow of the traffic. All lanes at the customs inspection will be opened - 9 lanes for departure and 8 lanes for arrival.
General Director of General Organisation of King Fahd Causeway asserted dedication to provide all facilities for smooth traffic flow at the causeway.
The Air Customs Exists Directorate has set a plan to deal with potential surge in the number of passengers by increasing the number of staff at the Inspection Yard of the Bahrain International Airport and in coordination with the Bahrain Airport Company.
