Al-Assaf speaks about economic summit

Riyadh, Jan 17, SPA -- Minister of finance Ibrahim al-Assaf said
the first economic summit due to be hosted by Kuwait on Monday will
lay a foundation for a joint Arab economic, development and social
work.

In a press statement, he said the summit will be different compared
to the ordinary Arab summits, because it will focus the economic and
social sides.
The global financial crisis and its impact on the Arab economies will
be among the important topics which will be discussed at the summit,
he said adding that the convening of the summit will provide a good
opportunity to exchange views and coordinate efforts for easing the
repercussions of the crisis on the Arab economies.
Dr al-Assaf reiterated the keenness of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on
laying a foundation for a new Arab economic work which paves the way
for an Arab economic integration.
