19 Bahraini sportswomen to compete in Rio Olympics

Manama, Aug. 1 (BNA): Bahrain is participating in the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro with a large sports delegation comprising 36 athletes, marathoners, sprinters, swimmers, short- and long-haul runners. The Bahraini delegation includes 19 sportswomen. The unprecedented high number of women athletes is clearly indicative of Bahraini women's contribution in all walks of life, particularly in the field of sports, thanks to the kind care and patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa the Principal Supporter of Youth and Sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and the support on the part of the government led by His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister, as well as His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, along with the support of Her Royal Highness Prince Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council of Women (SCW), His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa representative of HM the King for Charity Works and Youth and Sports Affairs and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.
