(profile) Key presidential aide named new intelligence chief

SEOUL, Jan. 18 (Yonhap) -- Won Sei-hoon, the new appointee to head South Korea's
state intelligence agency, is known as one of the few close aides to President
Lee Myung-bak.
Won has served as minister of public administration and security since Lee's
inauguration on Feb. 25 last year.
Born in Yeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, Won studied law at Seoul National
University.
He joined the ministry in 1974 and worked as vice Seoul mayor from 2003 to 2006
when Lee was the mayor of the capital. Won also worked on Lee's presidential
campaign.
