Youths' role in sustainable development highlighted

Manama, Aug. 11 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa the representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs and Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports (SCYS) also President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) addressed Bahraini and international youth on the World Youth Day which coincides with August 12 each year. HH Shaikh Nasser said sustainable development as an overall holistic concept is a continuous process that needs be accomplished through the arms and initiatives of youths who are considered the leaders of the present and the future. His Highness said it was natural burden on the shoulders of youths to consolidate and implant the concept of the UN-conceived sustainable development goals (SDGs) because youths are deemed the link between what will be accomplishment in terms of development and what the world shall reap in terms of future benefits. His Highness pointed out that Bahraini youths on real ground have played a spectacular and effective role in drafting and crystalizing the concepts of sustainable development in the Kingdom of Bahrain and still continue resolutely to attain these goals and to uplift the beloved country in all fields. His Highness said that nowadays the effective role of youths cannot be underestimated in the accomplishment of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)2030 because we highly trust that youths are the source of our power who are capable of changing and developing their own communities to the better and to achieve super development goals as aspired by all nations. In line with the directives and the direct care of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, we in the Kingdom of Bahrain have provided youths the opportunity to participate in the development process and have provided them with the necessary capabilities to engage in the developmental process in harmony with the Kingdom of Bahrain Vision2030 and also the UN Sustainable Development2030, His Highness said.
