Interior Minister receives GCC delegations

Manama, Aug. 11 (BNA): Interior Minister, Lieutenant-General Shaikh Rashid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa received here today the heads and members of GCC delegations that participated in the 4th meeting of the supreme committee of joint exercise of security authorities in Gulf Cooperation Council "Arabian Gulf Security1". Chief of Public Security, Major-General Tariq Al Hassan, attended.
The minister welcomed the guests, highlighting the role of the exercise in promoting ongoing cooperation and coordination through exchanging information between GCC security authorities.
He said that holding the exercise makes GCC countries more active in dealing with security challenges, and enhances security work, as part of the directives of Their Majesties and Highnesses GCC leaders and decisions of Their Highnesses and Excellencies GCC Interior Ministers to promote cooperation in dealing with regional challenges.
He highlighted the importance of promoting cooperation and coordination among GCC states, adding that joint exercises reinforce GCC security work and coordination among security authorities to unify concepts in fighting threats. He directed to provide all kinds of support to carry out this exercise and wished the participants all the best.
Assistant Chief of Public Security for Operations and Training, Colonel Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, briefed the meeting on the aims and phases of the exercise, training levels of participating forces and various security scenarios. The first joint exercise will be held in Bahrain with the participation of GCC security authorities as part of the implementation of security agreements to treat security personnel in how to deal with terrorist acts. The exercise will include lectures and workshops to promote cooperation between forces.
