PM thanks authorities for their help to provide security
BANGKOK, Aug 13 (TNA) – Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-ocha expressed his appreciation to all relevant officers for their efforts to maintain peace and order following a series of bombings in several tourist resort towns in southern region of Thailand.
Major General Sansern Kaewkamnerd, spokesman for the Prime Minister’s Office, said the prime minister has been monitoring the situation closely after bomb explosions struck the popular beach resort town of Hua Hin and other tourist spots in four provinces between Aug 11 and 12.
The Thai authorities considered the recent bomb attacks as an act of stirring up public disturbance rather than a terrorism activity.
The spokesman said General Prayut would like to thank all officers for providing security for the people living in the country as well as promised a return to normalcy as soon as possible.
He said the premier wanted the authorities to consider the security and order as priority and he believed the situation was under control.
Major General Sansern also urged the main stream media to be cautious in reporting and strive to balanced coverage of the situation in Thailand in order to avoid possible confusion in the society and prevent adverse impacts on the country. (TNA)
