Bahraini-Thai labour cooperation explored

Manama, Aug. 14 (BNA): Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA)'s CEO Ausama bin Abdullah Al-Absi received the Ambassador of Thailand Kingdom to the Kingdom of Bahrain, Chayapan Bamrungphong. They explored latest development of workers' statuses in the kingdom and the vistas of cooperation between the Authority and his country's relevant bodies in terms of manpower permits, awareness of workers about labour market regulations, their legal rights and duties and the role of diplomatic missions in this aspect. Al-Absi talked about a legal mechanism under studying aimed to boost the kingdom's efforts in combating human trafficking and capable of granting workers' rights and their protection and at the same time a deterrent to any violator. He stressed keenness on seeking the assistance from international expertise that achieved success in this matter to benefit in achieving the objectives of the committee and to ensure Bahrain's compliance with all international agreements aimed at the protection of workers against any trafficking or infringement on their human rights. For his side, the Thai ambassador praised the LMRA's care for Thai workers in Bahrain, affirming the official side's appreciation of such care and also praising the new rules and regulations in addition to LMRA's electronically-provided (online) facilitations.
