Shaikh Nasser leads Bahrain 13 team to victory in Germany

Manama, Aug. 14 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, has dedicated the Bahrain Endurance Team 13's unprecedented victory in Ironman 70.3 Wiesbaden, Germany, to HM King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa. Over 2000 participants from different countries from around the world took part in the event with the Bahrain Endurance Team 13 taking part with 11 members under its umbrella. Leading the team to victory was HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. "This achievement is thanks to the huge support extended by HM the King to the youth and sports in the Kingdom of Bahrain, and dedicating this victory to HM is a token of our appreciation to HM for backing the sports and the youth. This represents a motivation to all the athletes in the Kingdom of Bahrain to give their all and lift the Kingdom's flag high in all events," HH Shaikh Nasser said, before adding: "What has been achieved in Germany follows intensive preparations from the team. My colleagues gave their all to stay ahead of the many participants in order to maintain the Kingdom's leading position." HH Shaikh Nasser praised the constant support and backing from HM the King to the team, stating that this achievement is a translation of this support. "Our results in Germany are a source of encouragement to us to double our efforts in order to record more achievements," HH Shaikh Nasser underlined, thanking his teammates for the efforts they put in throughout the event. It's worth noting that the contest began with a 1900m swim before the participants were challenged to a 90km cycling race and ended with a 21km running race. HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa completed the race in 5 hours, 11 minutes and 59 seconds. HH finished the swimming race in 32 minutes before cutting the cycling distance in two hours and 59 minutes. HH Shaikh Nasser went on to finish the running race in one hour, 35 minutes and 41 seconds. It's worth noting that this is the second participation in a Germany Ironman competition since the one held in Berlin in 2014.
