Thailand to introduce e-book on proper nutrition

BANGKOK, August 17 (TNA) - Realizing that about 80 per cent of information on food and health shared through social media is false and misleading, Thailand's Institute of Nutrition (IN) plans to introduces e-book to disseminate proper information on healthy diets to the public. Dr. Chulaporn Roongpisuhipong, Chief of the Nutrition Association of Thailand (NST), Dr. Napaphan Viriyautsahakul, Director of the Bureau of Nutrition under the Ministry of Public Health and Sa-nga Damapong, Advisor to the ministry's Department of Health told the information at a joint press conference in Bangkok on Wednesday. The nutrition experts said that the e-book on food and nutrition will be soon accessed on the [http://www.ebooks.in.th2anamaibook/] website. According to the experts, the e-book is a solution to misleading and false information shared through social media that could cause patients to follow the wrong advice and lose opportunities to receive right treatment. Besides, doctors have found that a number of Thai children are facing malnutrition, both overnutrition with too much sugar and fat intakes and undernutrition like deficiency of Iron, Zinc and Vitamin D. On the occasion, the nutrition experts also announced that the 10th Thailand Congress of Nutrition, themed “Proactive Nutrition for Sustainability”, will be held at Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre (BITEC) in the capital's Bang-na area during October 18-20, 2016, in which the general public are welcome to participate.
