New bidding for Thai government rice stocks set in late August

BANGKOK, August 18 (TNA) - The Thai Ministry of Commerce announces that a new bidding of another one million tonnes of rice from the government's stocks has been set late this month. Duangporn Rodphaya, Director-General of the ministry's Department of Foreign Trade, told journalists on Thursday that interested bidders are welcome to take part in the new bidding, the 5th of its kind, set on August 29. Duangporn said that over 700,000 tonnes of rice, out of the total one million tonnes to be opened for bidding, will be for general bidding, while the rest will be reserved for industrial bidders. According to the senior official, a briefing on the Terms of Reference (TOR) for the 5th bidding of government rice has been set on August 19 and interested bidders are then allowed to inspect the rice at the government's stocks, before submitting their qualification documents on August 25, followed by their documents on bidding prices on August 29.
