Targeted government building maintenance reduction achieved

Manama, Aug 18 (BNA): In conformity with the directives of HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, on the implementation of short, medium and long term initiatives of the six task force responsible for the reduction of recurring expenditure targeting achieving saving of at least 30%, Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the Ministerial Committee for Financial Affairs and Rationalising Expenditure, Shaikh Khalid bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, said the task team in charge of the review of expenditure of government buildings maintenance have achieved the targeted reduction percentage of 30% of the maintenance budget in 40 ministries and government agencies. The Coordinating Committee chaired by HRH Crown Prince had decided, in October 2015, to form six task force in charge of review and reduction of recurrent expenditures. The committee's decision is part of several measures taken by the government to contribute to stabilizing the financial situation and sustainability of financial resources. It reflects the government's determination to deal with the economic developments resulting from the decline in global oil price.
