Bahrain to mark World Humanitarian Day

Manama, Aug. 18 (BNA): Bahrain is set to join other nations from around the globe in celebrating World Humanitarian Day on Saturday. This day-long event, under the theme ‘Sporting Spirit for Humanity’, is organized by the Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC). BOC has finalized all arrangements ahead of this annual occasion, to be held in recognition to humanitarian personnel and those who have lost their lives working for humanitarian causes. The function will feature a two-km walkathon, open to citizens and expats alike of all ages at the parking area behind the National Stadium in Riffa. Registration begins at 5pm, while the walkathon is scheduled to commence at 5.30pm. Invitations were sent out to all representatives of sports in Bahrain, including national sports federations, to take part in the event, organised in cooperation with the Bahrain Roadrunners. Following the walkathon, trophies, medals and special prizes will be given away to the winners, courtesy of Anod Group, the main sponsors of the event.
