Expatriate workers’ rights protection stressed

Manama, Aug. 27 (BNA): President of the National Institution for Human Rights (NIHR), Dr. Abduaziz Hassan Abul, received here today the Assistant Undersecretary of the labour and Social Development Ministry for Labour Affairs, Dr. Mohammed Ali Al-Ansari. They discussed the efforts exerted by the kingdom to protect expatriate workers, and remove the obstacles that may face them while residing and working in Bahrain. Dr. Abul said that the NIHR always welcomes cooperation with the Labour and Social Development Ministry regarding all issues related to the national and expatriate workforce alike, lauding the Ministry’s policy in implementing laws and resolutions that contribute to protecting human rights. Dr. Al-Ansari highlighted the Labour Ministry’s interest in all issues related to monitoring human rights and the conditions of expatriate workers, especially in the private sector, and ways to deal with them through coordination between the NIHR and the Labour and Social Development Ministry. This will consolidate the kingdom of Bahrain’s status as role model for labour rights protection, he explained.
