Leadership congratulated on Bahrain's new global record

, Aug. 28 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa the First Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of Youth and Sports (SCY), President of Bahrain Athletics Association (BAA) congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa al Khalifa; His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa the Prime Minister; His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister; and, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa the representative of HM the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) on the occasion of Bahraini champion Ruth Jebet's smashing the world record in the women's 3,000 metres steeplechase by more than six seconds at the Paris Diamond League meeting on Saturday. HH Shaikh Khalid congratulated the teams of all Bahraini youth centres and clubs, ascribing this international accomplishment to the Leadership's support and assistance and the care of His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa to more than 32 youth centre and club teams that boosted Bahrain's position on the world map of sports. His Highness described this winning as a new recognition of Bahrain's international position in athletics among the advanced nations in the "mother of games" whence Bahrain has inscribed its name in gold in the register of international championships. He praised Ruth Jebet's spectacular performance in Paris Diamond League meeting achieving this new world record that proves she has meritoriously won her gold medal and honoured the Kingdom of Bahrain at more than one international sports event. He expressed his delight at this new international accomplishment by Bahraini runner Ruth Jebet within less than two weeks from winning the gold medal in Rio2016 which reflects her capabilities and potentials "as a difficult number" at the international level. He affirmed the athletic association will provide all forms of support and assistance to Ruth Jebet to continue her accomplishments and gains for the Kingdom of Bahrain at the various external functions. He also praised the efforts being exerted by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) led by Hesham bin Mohammed Al Jowder.
