Long-standing Bahraini-Egyptian relations highlighted

Manama, Aug 30 (BNA): His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa today received a letter from President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi of Egypt on the long-standing fraternal relations linking the two countries and on topics of shared interest.
HM the King received the letter during a meeting held at Sakhir Palace with Dr. Mushira Khattab a former ambassador and minister and Egypt's candidate for the post of Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization "UNESCO".
Dr. Khattab's visit to Bahrain is the first leg of her promotion tour for the UNESCO's post. She conveyed the Egyptian President's greetings and wishes of good health and happiness to HM the King and of further progress and prosperity to Bahrain.
HM the King hailed the historical fraternal bilateral relations and asked Dr. Khattab to convey his regards to President Al-Sisi and his wishes of advancement and wellbeing to the Egyptian people.
HM the King praised Egypt's cultural and civilizational role and its notable contributions to human civilizations, as well as its efforts in promoting the scientific and cultural movement.
HM the King pointed out Bahrain's participation within the UN-led international efforts as an active partner in the establishment of regional and international peace and stability, dissemination of values of tolerance and moderation, building knowledge society, protection of cultural and civilizational heritage of the world, and promotion of human rights and the process of sustainable development.
HM the King underlined Bahrain's keenness on underpinning the UNESCO's humanitarian efforts and activities in line with Bahrain's efforts based on promoting peaceful coexistence and openness among cultures and civilizations, preserving Islamic and Arab heritage and contributing to development of human civilization.
HM the King paid tribute to Bahrain-UN partnership that led to hosting the Regional Centre for Information and Communication Technology, Arab Regional Centre for World Heritage, as well as the UNESCO – King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education prize since 2005.
Dr. Khattab expressed appreciation of HM the King's keen interest in boosting the Bahraini-Egyptian relations, wishing Bahrain further progress and development under HM the King's wise leadership.
