ICT launches Phuket Smart City

PHUKET, Sept 10 (TNA) -- Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has launched the Phuket Smart City, another step to help steer the digital economy. ICT Minister Uttama Savanayana presided over the opening ceremony of the Phuket Smart City project on Friday at a hotel in Phuket provincial seat. The Thai Software Industry Promotion Agency or SIPA and Phuket province have jointly host the event, held under the theme "Phuket Smart City 2020: Smile Smart and Sustainable Phuket", in which an agreement was also signed with 15 other agencies to jointly propel operations concerning the digital economy forward. The minister said the Phuket Smart City project would become another measure that would help to strengthen the national development system, where the government would be able to implement digital technology as the main tool to reform the country and lead it into stability, prosperity and sustainability in accordance with the government's policy on economy and digital society. He said this would have progress all economic sectors in the country to better compete with other world countries and step into the Thailand 4.0 scheme with full integration. (TNA)
