SRT confirms tracks in Thai south to be back in full operation Monday
SONGKHLA, Sept 10 (TNA) -- The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) Southern Region Centre ensured that all repairs on the recently bombed rail tracks in the Thai south would be 100 per cent completed by the end of the day, adding that all of the routes running to the three southern border provinces would be back in full operations this coming Monday.
Authorities had now moved out the wreckage of a train compartment belonging to train number 176 linking between Su-ngai Golok and Hat Yai to the Hat Yai Junction in Songkhla province this afternoon. The damage was caused by the bombing on the tracks in Khok Pho district of Pattani province.
SRT Southern Region Centre Director Banharn Gobyayang said that the repair works of the destroyed tracks should be finished by today, though train operations could not yet be restarted straight away.
He said a test run is needed to thoroughly confirm that the tracks are ready to resume operation in order to ensure the highest safety for passengers.
He said all train lines in the three southernmost provinces could resume operations at the soonest on Monday, starting from the Hat Yai Junction and ending at the Su-ngai Golok station for both inbound and outbound routes. (TNA)
