Bahrain expresses concern over US Congress decision on "Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act"

Manama, Sep. 12 (BNA): The Kingdom of Bahrain expresses its deep concern over the decision of the US Congress on the legislation entitled "Justice Against Sponsors of Terrorism Act", which it considers contradictory to the Charter of the United Nations and the principles of international law, and that this legislation is contrary to the foundations of international relations based on the principles of sovereign equality and immunity of states, mutual respect and non-imposition of the domestic laws of any country on other countries. While the Kingdom of Bahrain affirms that issuing such a legislation - if implemented – is a dangerous precedent in the relations between nations and would pose a threat to the stability of the international system as well as have a significant global economic damage, and carries causes for chaos and instability in international transactions, it hopes that the United States does not support this legislation, which will give other countries the opportunity to issue similar laws, that would negatively affect international efforts to fight terrorism.
