Bahrain wins gold medal at Paralympic Games

Manama, Sep. 12 (BNA): Fatima Nedham scripted history for Bahrain after she won the gold medal in the shotput F-53 event at the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
Fatima who registered 4.76m mark to win gold on the first day of Eid Al Adha for Bahrain came ahead of India’s Deepa Malik who threw her personal best 4.61m in her sixth and final attempt and Greece’s Dimitra Korokida who took bronze with a throw of 4.28m.
Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation Chairman Shaikh Mohammed bin Duaij Al Khalifa offered his congratulations to His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, HRH Prime Minister Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Representative of HM the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Olympic Committee, HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports and President of Bahrain Athletics Association, HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa on the outstanding accomplishment.
Bahrain at the Olympic Games (Rio 2016) won its first ever gold medal as well as a silver medal, a tally that ranked it at the top of Arab countries and tenth in Asia.
