Cancer patient's death probed

Manama, Sep. 15 (BNA): Chief Prosecutor Salman Al-Asfoor said the Public Prosecution began investigations into the report received from Al-Hoora Police Station following a complaint lodged by the father of a cancer patient who allegedly died in Salmaniya Medical Complex (SMC). The father claimed he was told by the physician that his son had healed to a large extent after receiving therapy since February. Nevertheless, the condition of his son deteriorated over the last few days before his death and he ascribed the cause of his son's death to medical error in the course of treatment. The Public Prosecution began its investigations, listened to the father's statements and ordered the relevant medical file to be kept in custody. The Prosecution assigned the forensic doctor to examine the cadaver to determine the cause of death. The Prosecution notified the National Health Regulatory Authority (NHRA) to promptly take the necessary actions regarding the incident and to inform the Prosecution about its actions immediately.
