Southern Governor visits New York Police Department

Manama, Sep. 17 (BNA): Southern Governor Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al-Khalifa visited New York City Police Department (NYPD and met NYPD Commissioner James O'Neill. The Governor was briefed about a number of programmes and projects, including the COMPASTAT programme that has contributed in the reduction of crime rate. He was also informed about the 311 system that deals with civil cases and interaction between the residents and the police in relation to minor crimes. The Governor highlighted the importance of mutual community partnership in reinforcing cooperation between the police and the community to reduce crimes. Meanwhile the NYPD commissioner highlighted willingness to exchange experience and strengthen cooperation.
