Khalid bin Hamad hails paralympic achievements

Manama, Sep. 18 (BNA): His Highness Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa, First Deputy President of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Athletics Association, congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, ruler of the Kingdom of Bahrain, May God Protect Him, on the occasion of the Kingdom of Bahrain achieving a gold medal in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, through Fatima Abdulrazzaq who achieved first position in the Shot Put competition (F-53 category) and Ruba Al Omari achieving seventh position in the Discus Throw competition (F-55 category).
His Highness also congratulated His Royal Highness Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa, the Prime Minister, His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Prime Minister, Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of His Majesty the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women and His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, representative of His Majesty the King for Charity Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Youth and Sports, President of Bahrain Olympic Committee.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa said that these honourable results were possible due to support from the wise leadership to the youth and sports sectors, especially for people with disabilities, which contributed in adding accomplishments to Bahrain's Sport.
His Highness further added that the wise government has successfully translated the royal directives of HM the King, by implementing plans, programmes and activities that aim to develop the sports infrastructure of the Kingdom, creating a suitable atmosphere for all athletes to participate in various competition and achieve results.
HH Shaikh Khalid bin Hamad Al Khalifa said that the efforts of HH Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa are apparent through the implementation of plans and strategies for development that contributed in a leap in athletic games and have a positive impact in achieving a strong presence during participation to achieve outstanding results.
His Highness said: "I express my pride with the Bahrain disabled sports historic achievement in the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, which was achieved in Shot Put through Fatima Abdulrazzaq winning the first position in the Shot Put competition. This achievement writes Bahrain's name with gold in the record of achievements and put Bahrain's name on the world sports map with Ruba Al Omari's achievement in winning the seventh position."
His Highness added by saying: "We congratulate the Bahrain Disabled Sports Federation under the chairmanship of His Excellency Shaikh Mohammed bin Daij Al Khalifa and all members of the federation on both achievements. Both results reflect on the efforts of the Federation in implementing programmes that helped raise the level of the National team, and contributed to achieving these results which raised the name of Bahrain in this international gathering."
His Highness praised the high level of performance displayed by the two athletes during their participation and said that they have high capabilities and potential, explaining that both athletes are an example challenging disabilities with determination to achieve goals. His Highness also praised the technical and administrative members that helped in preparing the athletes to achieve these outstanding results
