EARTHQUAKE HITS NORTH SULAWESI ON TUESDAY


Jakarta, Jan. 20 (ANTARA) - A tectonic earthquake measuring 5.4 on the Richter scale jolted Melonguane, North Sulawesi, on Tuesday at 12.49 am Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
The quake's epicenter was located at 4.76 degrees northern latitude and 127.89 degrees eastern longitude, around 261 km northeast of Melonguane, at a depth of 50 km below sea level, according to information of the national meteorological and geophysics office.
Earlier, a 5.1-magnitude temblor shook Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi, on Tuesday at 11.06 am WIB, with epicenter located at 48 km southeast of Tolitoli, Central Sulawesi, at a depth of 59 km beneath the seabed.
